After 50 years, the Brno Philharmonic embarked on an American tour. Angélique Kidjo, a five-time Grammy winner, joined on stage and composer Philip Glass in the audience.

For a sold-out house, the orchestra performed works by Bohuslav Martinů, Leoš Janáček and his famous contemporary Philip Glass – his Twelfth Symphony Lodger was given its New York premiere.

The Philharmonic will next perform in Ann Arbor, Michigan, before heading to California for performances in Santa Barbara, Palm Desert and Northridge. Kansas City, Missouri, is next, followed by Lubbock, Texas. All concerts will feature a selection of Czech music by Janáček, Martinů and Antonín Dvořák, combined with contemporary American works.

The tour will run from February 8th to February 20th.

The Artistic Director and Chief Conductor of the Brno Philharmonic is Dennis Russell Davies. Find more information about the Brno Philharmonic here.
