Design and Transformation exhibition in Brussels presents the history and vision of Czech design

“Design and Transformation. Stories of Czech Design 1990-2020” shows visitors the work of leading Czech designers and the products of major Czech brands presented through the stories of the companies.

The exhibition was prepared by the Academy of Arts and Crafts in Prague in cooperation with the Moravian Gallery in Brno, the Office of the Government of the Czech Republic and other government institutions on the occasion of the second Czech Presidency of the EU Council.

The exhibition introduces background of the creation of individual objects, illustrating centuries of cultural and craft traditions and the constant changes in economic and political frameworks or the countries themselves. It traces the relationship between changes in society and design production. A smaller part of the exhibition presents the connection between design and Czech nature. Six short films combines animation and real footage from the production or operation of selected brands, presenting their visions and history. The accompanying programme will also include lectures, workshops and music productions.
