On the Way to Europe: 50 Years Together

In 2015, the town of Blansko celebrated the 50th anniversary of the partnership with the Italian city of Scandian. On this occasion, a meeting of twin cities called On the Way to Europe: 50 Years Together was organized. The aim of the project was to commemorate Czech-Italian history and to promote international cooperation, deepen citizens’ knowledge of twinned towns – acquaint them with typical regional products, culture, customs and traditions and establish new ties between citizens and organizations from twinned towns. The project included a historical conference entitled On the Road to Europe: 50 Years Together, farmers’ markets, an exhibition of photographs and history of partnership, or an exhibition of drawings by primary school pupils on the European Union through the eyes of children. The target groups were citizens – city representatives, athletes, artists, witnesses of the history of partnership with Scandian, regional entrepreneurs and producers, students and educators.
