Singing Songs

Young people from the Czech Republic with artistic and social interests came to Slovenia for two weeks to see their peers enjoying the creative process of acquiring knowledge of oral cultural heritage and experience in scenography and art applied in social life. They used the site-specific method, prepared the environment, situations and installations as metaphors and self-expressing the specific songs and stories they chose. The participants were landart objects, light installations and objects mainly made of natural materials. The ideas were consulted with a professional stage designer to give the project a professional dimension. The project is based on close cooperation with residents and on the active involvement of viewers in installations. During the activities, they visited the surrounding villages to get to know the local people, let them know about the project and share their oral heritage (storytelling evenings, dinner with neighbors, singing evening).
