The Brno Philharmonic opened the Salzburg music season with three evening performances at the Great Festival House.
On the prestigious European stage, the Philharmonic presented a combination of Lidice Memorial by Bohuslav Martinů and Shostakovich’s Leningrad Symphony. The programme was repeated in the following evening. On the third and final evening presented works by Dvořák, Vaughan Williams, Janáček and Korngold’s Violin Concerto performed by Milan Paľa. Both the orchestra and chief conductor Dennis Russell Davies praised the acoustics of the local hall and the audience were also enthusiastic, giving a long minute standing ovation.
