The Czech Chamber of Architects (CCA) will award the CCA Honour for 2021 to Professor Eva Jiřičná. The award ceremony will take place at the Czech Architecture Award nomination evening in the Wallenstein Garden on Thursday 23 June 2022.
Since 2000, the Chamber has been paying tribute to outstanding personalities in the field of architecture with this award for lifetime achievement. Each year, proposals for the award are submitted by the professional public, including members of the individuals of the Czech Chamber of Architects. The Czech Chamber of Architects awards this prize to personalities who have made a significant contribution to the modern history of Czech architecture through their work and moral credit.
The jury unanimously agreed to award the prize to Professor Jiřičná. “She approaches architecture comprehensively, in its entirety, in a variety of typologies. She does not differentiate between small and large tasks. She can create chairs or tables; her staircases with their revolutionary use of glass have brought her worldwide success. She gives form to galleries, shops, restaurants and houses, and designs public buildings of various orientations: a library, a hotel, a school, a spiritual or congress centre, a transport terminal, an orangery,” said the jury. At the same time, they highlighted that Eva Jiřičná “has an amazing sense of building design, thanks to her superior knowledge of technology she comes up with the most efficient solutions.”
